New Midjourney 6.0 ALPHA model version tests!
New @Midjourney 6.0 ALPHA model version reminds us why so important is to know the differences between the versions and outcomes / results of their work. Not only in the visual way but in the manner of interpreting your commands. For what kind of work it would be the best match. Subtle in a way but strong in the influence differences could be crucial in the final effect and your attitude to generative AI.
Differences focus on one common denominator – realism I would say v6 the ALPHA one is so far the most “grounded” one but powerful in it’s “craft” in case of realism. If you’re searching realism as strong as ALPHA stereotypes are. I love to distinct those subtle differences between the model versions. Knowing for what kind of style the version is up, is one thing. But the language that you communicate with the version is second, level of abstract thinking is very depending on the model version you choose in case of ALPHA I would say it’s far from abstract and sense of humour that other versions had.
In the comparison you can see how the weights of the words have changed, it is very visible that some of the more “realistic” “simple” words have increased their weight, e.g. close up / freckles

On this example we can clearly see the difference in “thinking” of ALPHA model version not only visual are more realistic but also the concept is much more realistic and down to earth.
Examples suggests that this model version was created for very realistic effects but it also came with different from e.g version 5.2 “way of understanding” some more abstract concepts I would say. Alpha model version has some problems with abstract thinking comparing to previous models and it’s very visible on some more abstract concepts. Like here asked for “retro photo of people working in abstract glitter animals factory” in case of 5.1 and 5.2 model version gave us satisfying in “abstraction” of concept results but 6.0 grounded us a little 😉 visual comparision below
But this came with many advantages – for e.g it’s the most diverse and realistic in case of human anatomy, race etc. Portraits, faces and expressions are truly amazing
